Day 198/365: Autumnal

Today is the autumnal equinox. And I absolutely lurve fall. It’s the best time of the year with some of the best weather and the best clothing. Life doesn’t get much better than sweaters and boots. And to kick off this wonderful fall season, I indulged in a pumpkin spice blizzard from Dairy Queen. Those chunks of pumpkin pie crust make it so decadent. And I don’t even like pumpkin pie.

I also love fall because it’s a new season where so much is changing. The leaves are turning amazing colors, pumpkin spice feels the air, it’s chock full of fun holidays and it feels like forward movement is just baked into the air.

Maybe with each new season I can set some new goals. We always wait until the new year to make big ones, but why wait? I’d like to focus more on my health. My eczema is still taking over so I’m going to seek out a holistic dermatologist to see if s/he can get at the root of what’s really going on with my skin. I’d also like to make yoga a regular part of my workout routine. I’ve already begun doing it for the past few weeks and I definitely don’t feel as stiff and as foggy brained as in previous weeks. I’m expecting to deepen the practice, get better at poses and try different forms.

I’m also going to work on loving myself more, even when I fall short. I feel like we’re so hard on ourselves, especially us women and it starts to really take its toll after a while. I feel like if I can love myself consistently my world will begin to open up in unexpected ways, and I’m honestly looking forward to that experience.

So to recap, it’s about health, fitness and self-love. Simple goals. Let’s see how I get through the season with those goals in mind. Wish me luck—and commitment.
