My late great uncle, Uncle Claude, whom I adored, always had this response when you asked him how he was: “Oh, fair to middlin’.” It essentially means not great, but not bad either. That about sums up how I’m feeling today.
I’m not super excited about anything, but I’m not down in the dumps (or depths of despair). I’m just sort of maintaining. I feel kind of like I’m in limbo today. Just kind of hanging out in the in-between.
Maybe it’s because so many things are in a holding pattern that that’s how I’m feeling overall—today anyway. Sometimes being in this place can be a good thing. It allows me to take stock of what’s happening, prepare a bit—or at least try to—and then ready (or steady) myself for what’s up next.
At least I don’t feel like I’m waiting for the next shoe to drop. And that feels good. Hopefully, tomorrow I’ll feel energized and ready to go after having a day of rest.
